Bubble Superforming - key facts

Bubble Superforming is ideally suited to deep complex components especially where wall thickness needs to remain relatively constant during and after forming. This process allows geometry impossible to achieve using any other superforming process.

Maximum size of part

Metric 915 x 610 x 300mm Thickness range 0.5mm up to 6.35mm thick.

US 36” x 24” x 12” Thickness range 0.020”up to 0.250” thick

  • Forming oven is pressurised and heated to 500 degrees Celsius
  • Air pressure forces sheet up to form a bubble
  • Tool is moved into the bubble
  • Air pressure is applied from the top forcing the sheet onto the tool surface
  • After forming is complete the tool is withdrawn from the formed sheet.
